Community Growing Gets Going

On Saturday a number of school children, teachers and volunteers started work on our new community growing project. John Murdo Morrison of East Tarbert has given us the use of his poly tunnel and an area around it for cultivation. The area has great potential and the aim is to start growing vegetables and fruit later in the spring. However, having been out of use for a number of years, the poly tumnnel was quite overgrown and willows had started to encroach on the polythene sheeting from outside. So our main task for the day was to clear the tunnel, cut down the encroaching willows and start turning the soil. We made great progress and after much hard work we were rewarded with a Barbeque!
