Pleasant letter to CnES

Good morning,

My wife and I have just returned from a holiday on the Isle Of Lewis and felt we needed to convey our thanks for our wonderful experience of Lewis and Harris. It was not only the rugged beauty of the islands, the fantastic wildlife and the quality of the air and light, but the people who made it very special – friendly, helpful and community spirited. We were particularly impressed with the number of community run businesses and projects, and at least 3 deserve particular praise – The North Harris Trust, The Ravenspoint Centre and The Seallam Centre for their excellent work and service to the community, but there are also the community shops and the young people’s enterprise project at Sir E Scott school (the brochure “The Beautiful Isle” was fantastic). Coupled with the history of the islands, which was of particular interest to us (especially the land raiders stories and the Iolaire tragedy), it was a great week for us.

An Lanntair and Stornaway museum were also very very good and our accommodation at Garrabost was excellent too.

So, we want to say a profound thanks to the people and communities of Lewis and Harris for such an excellent first visit – it certainly won’t be the last!

Best wishes

Alan Anderton and June Johnson
